A friend of mine gave me a recipe that transformed what I thought to be bland and ordinary Bok Choy into something really tasty. I am thinking that this is most probably the secret recipe . But not anymore ! Get ready because the simple ingredients in your kitchen cupboard are very necessary.
8-10 bundles of bok choy
1 tbsp. Olive oil
3-4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. soy sauce
2 tbsp. Chicken ,vegetable or beef broth (mix 1 tbsp.of any broth in the picture above with 1 cup water & mix well with a whisker, boil on a saucepan in a medium heat )
sesame oil ( optional )
PROCEDURE: Cut the bottoms of the bok Choy then separate individually with a knife.Run water on them on a colander to remove dirt & soil. Place the pre-washed vegetables in a big plastic container & cover well with filtered water just like the picture above. Soak them well while gathering & pre-measuring your ingredients because you need to stir fry them in few minutes.Have everything ready.Drain the bok choy & cut them crosswise into quarters. Heat wok & warm a tbsp. of oil,throw in the garlic and the bok choy ( careful of the hot oil splashing due to the wet bok choy ).Stir fry them for 2-3 minutes over medium heat. You could premix the broth,soy sauce & sugar together before adding into the wok. Continue cooking covered for a minute,uncover,let the liquid evaporates,Turn off the stove when tender crisp.Serve immediately while hot.You may add a drizzle of sesame oil.Voila! A tasty side dish that is green ,delicious & good for you & me.
