I found this recipe online a while ago at Nicko’s Kitchen. Don’t let Nicko’s tough exterior fool you, the guy can cook and his recipes are pretty much about the secrets of famous franchise restaurants. Let’s make some KFC!
4 large chicken breasts, cut and seasoned with salt first
Vegetable oil for frying
Buttermilk, 1 cup
2 cups flour
1 tsp each of salt, ground black pepper, dried basil, ground chili, paprika, garlic powder, dried oregano, and onion powder
1. Prepare the flour mix, stirring well to evenly distribute the flavoring mixture.
2. Prepare the egg wash: whisk in a bowl 1 cup buttermilk and 1 egg, set aside.
3. Dip chicken pieces in flour mix then into the egg wash, then back into the flour mix.
4. Deep fry for 5-8 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towel.
